Redesigns
Many sites are being redesigned with adherence to web standards — ESPN, Wired, Fast Company, AlltheWeb all come to mind. As Zeldman says, web standards are forward compatible and help ensure that your web site is not obsolete.
Why on earth has Search Engine Watch redesigned with table and font tags? Not to mention that the new site is so much busier than the old one.
Zeldman Resources
Zeldman provided a number of useful links recently:

Zeldman also notes:
Fast Company magazine is one of the latest mainstream sites to redesign using XHTML and CSS.
How about some skins for ecrosstexas?
I really like the option to change stylesheets on Zeldman’s Daily Report and it has been on my to do list for quite some time. I found a great tutorial (that has inspired a ton of sites) on skinning your site. This will be part of my upcoming redesign.
