Visting Berkly’s in the Hill Country

This afternoon I took a trip to the Texas Hill Country to upgrade the Teazzers machines found the Berklys stores in Lampasas and Burnet.

Berkly’s #6

508 N. Key, Lampasas, TX 76550

Berkly’s #8

1600 S. Water St., Burnet, TX 78611

I was also able add a photo of the Burnet County Courthouse clad in Christmas lights to my collection of Texas Courthouses photos.

AirTran to expand at DFW

From Star Telegram:

AirTran, the nation’s second-largest discount airline after Dallas-based Southwest Airlines, plans to substantially expand its presence at D/FW in the coming months, increasing the number of daily flights threefold, opening three gates and adding destinations.

Hopefully, this will force American and other carriers to lower prices. Better still would be the repeal of the Wright Amendment.

Continental to stop reduced base airfares

HoustonChronicle.com - Continental to stop offsetting fares for fees

Continental, the No. 5 U.S. airline, said it cannot afford to continue with a policy that reduced base airfares to compensate for government fees of $3 per route segment whenever the total fees per trip topped $6.

TollTags at DFW Airport

From a August 13 Press Release:

The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) and the DFW International Airport announced today that as of October 1, 2003, TollTag customers will be able to use their TollTags at DFW International Airport for pass through and “Terminal” parking.

This is welcome news for all as it will make trips to the airport even easier for TollTag holders. Even better news appears to be in the works:

Currently, the NTTA is working with the Harris County Toll Road Authority to provide interoperability to all EZ TAG and TollTag customers in both the Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth area and has approached Love Field and several major downtown Dallas and Fort Worth parking garages with similar agreements.

Let’s get these agreements done and keep Texas moving!

Hotwire Acquired

From News.com:

Formerly known as USA Interactive, IAC has rapidly expanded its network of Web-based travel assets through a string of acquisitions in the past half-year, including high profile buyouts of companies such as Expedia and Hotels.com. Through the acquisition of Hotwire, the company gains another discount rate provider and closer ties to air carriers such as American Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways, all of which helped form the venture in 2000.
