Number 10 The Captain, Brenden Morrow

Morrow

Brandon Worley posted a really good article today at Defending Big D: Brenden Morrow Finally Becoming the Captain the Dallas Stars Have Needed

He now has commanded the respect of his teammates and while we’ve seen from the very start of the this season that he’s a different player this year, he really didn’t take that “next step” until he was hit in the face with a puck a little over a month ago. For whatever reason, no matter how good a season he and the Stars might have been having, him returning to the ice with a cage over a swollen and broken nose meant more to his team than any amount of goals he might have scored.

I couldn’t agree more with Worley that the Captain is leading this team like never before. His elevated game as taken tons of pressure of the Richards line and the Stars are rolling three lines every night that can take over a game. This is a great season for Morrow and the Stars. Get some rest boys, you should be playing in late May this year!

Mike Ribeiro Highlights

Mike Ribeiro Pregame Warm-up

I love to watch Mike Ribeiro play hockey. He is a magician with the puck and his confidence seems to grow every game.

Early season mastery in Los Angeles:

An amazing move (this one didn’t go in):

Another shoot-out goal in Phoenix:

Ribeiro went between the legs in a game last month:

And last night he added this gem:

Ribeiro and the Stars have one last game tonight. Let’ s hope they can wreck the Ducks plans one more time.

Update: Here is Ribeiro’s postgame audio talking about his goal last night.

Sidney Crosby is good, NHL is dumb

Crosby shot in the shootout

Dave Benoit and I went to the Stars game against the Penguins tonight. Not like anyone needs to hear it from me, but Sidney Crosby looks really good. The Stars lost in a shootout tonight.

Dave and I missed a huge chunk of the first period waiting for our Pizza Hut pizza to cook. Why are there so many concession issues at the AAC?

Enthusiasm and excitement grew as the game progressed. At the end of regulation the place was rockin’. My photos from the game will be up on Flickr soon are up on Flickr now.

It is really sad that this will be the Penguins only visit to Dallas until the 2009-2010 season. Why you ask? Because the NHL executives and owners are too dumb to market a great sport correctly. Hey Bettman, Sid the Kid needs to be at the AAC every year just like LeBron and D Wade in basketball.

Brenden Morrow is out indefinitely

Little Mo

Uh oh:

The injury to Brenden Morrow is not good. Severed tendons in his wrist after he was stepped on by a skate. Surgery late last night to repair the damage. The Stars say he is out indefinitely. In other words, a long time. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is pushing the end of the season before he returns. But we’ll just have to wait and see on that.

Getting stepped on with a skate, severed tendons, oh the agony. No to mention the agony Stars fans are looking at if this team cannot find any offense.

Emma and I will be at the game Friday night against Nashville (thanks Santa!). She will want to see some offense and hear plenty of Rock and Roll Part 2 I sure hope Modano is back.
