For almost six months there was a growing buzz about Monvee — The Future of Spiritual Formation that launched earlier this year. It was supposed to be the next big thing. I tried it. I logged in, created my profile and growth plan, but sadly haven’t been back since.

Today, I see that Willow Creek is launching what looks to be a Monvee competitor called Engage. If you ask me Engage already comes out way ahead because it does not look to be Flash-based and will come with an iPhone app.

Personally, I am not convinced that churches and believers need these tools. Christ has been building His church for 2,000 years through Word and Sacrament and the power of the Holy Spirit.
