GigaOM: Voice, Now Nearly Free

First it was Skype, then came Jajah, and now it is the turn of Gizmo Project to offer almost free voice calls to the old PSTN numbers. We are seeing the price of plain vanilla voice collapse to almost zero. (Some argue, with Skype to Skype calling, those prices are already zero.)

I hope all these companies succeed wildly. I have been a Vonage user for over two years now with hardly anything to complain about. (Yes, I know not everyone’s experience is the same).

That said, given the mouting issues for Vonage, I am looking to jump to Verizon’s VoiceWing service since they now match Vonage prices. At least I know Verizon will still be around in two years! I can’t say that about Vonage.
