Children’s Medical Center is coming northward. Construction of a new children’s hospital started here last month, and it’s expected to be completed in 2008.
But children needing specialized medical care could start seeing doctors across the street from the new Plano hospital site as soon as February.
Hospital officials decided not to wait for Children’s Medical Center Legacy to be completed to rent half of an office building, bringing their pediatric specialties to Collin County earlier than some had anticipated.
According to DallasNews.com:
T-Mobile USA Inc. plans to add about 850 jobs at a new Frisco campus in a deal that involves about $3 million in state and local government incentives, the company said Tuesday.
The wireless carrier’s new campus, at Warren and Dallas parkways, will eventually house more than 1,200 workers, including about 350 who will move from the company’s facility in Carrollton.
Frisco ISD sets cap on enrollment, students to be bused.
The district grew more than 20 percent from last year to nearly 20,000 students this fall. Projections call for roughly 30,000 students within a few years.
The district will open four new elementary schools in 2006-07, allowing schools that are above or near the enrollment limit this year to fall back to normal levels.
“The growth is happening so fast – even in the middle of the school year,” said Buddy Minett, school board president. “We’ve got a situation where we’re just over capacity, not just in the classroom but in common spaces like cafeterias, and we just can’t take any more people.”
The cap is a first for Frisco ISD. McKinney ISD, another fast-growing district, has enrollment caps at some elementary schools.
Will this cause you to think twice about moving to Frisco?
