“Harris County Attorney Mike Stafford asked state pollution control officials Monday to put the brakes on the new 55-mph environmental speed limit, imposed to help the area meet federal clean air standards.”

Stafford is asking for delay until further research is done to show that the 55mph speed limit actually lowers pollution. Stafford cites a new EPA study called Mobile 6, released Jan. 29, “indicates that the 55-mph limit may not provide the anticipated level of NOX reductions.”

Kudos to you Mr. Stafford. Why don’t more people think like this? I guess some people think common sense is a bad thing!
