Mavs Improve with Deal

When I first heard the deal during my drive home yesterday I was not impressed, but the the more I think about it the more I like it. I wasn’t thinking about Van Excel starting as shooting guard.

Nelson/Cuban didn’t help the Mavs defense greatly, although LaFrentz is a shot blocker. They might not be able to stop the Lakers yet, but they will outscore every other team in the NBA! What a starting line up they are going to put on the floor:

  • Steve Nash
  • Nick Van Excel
  • Michael Finley
  • Dirk Nowitzki
  • Raef LaFrentz

Lunch Room Brawl

8 students were arrested at Arlington’s Bowie High today after a huge fight broke out in the lunch room. 2 police officers and 10 students received injuries. School officials don’t have an explanation, but 11th-grader Boyd Phillips says “Over the past week, there’s been like three fights.”

More great insight came from senior Keith Roane, “I guess people were doing it because they could, I don’t know why.”

Hey Keith, maybe its because they have no respect for each other or authority? Maybe they need to review the golden rule?

Anthrax?

Just a few months ago America was in fear over the Anthrax attacks. What the heck happened? Where is the guilty party? Why has the media stopped covering the story? The New Scientist article, The Insider sheds some light:

After months of bungled investigation, it now looks certain that America’s anthrax attacks came from within. The implications are terrifying.

Andersen in settlement talks

From HoustonChronicle.com: Arthur Andersen is reportedly in talks to avoid a class action lawsuit that might put them out of business. The article quotes the Wall Street Journal saying that $700-$800 million has been offered in an effort to negotiate a settlement with shareholders, creditors and employees of Enron.

If this is true, is there any doubt of the Andersen’s guilt? Somehow though I don’t think $700-$800 million is nearly enough to settle the suit.

Belarus upsets Sweden

Wow, talk about upsets. Sweden was the favorite to win the Gold. How must goalie Tommy Salo feel? First, he and his Oilers, can never get past the Stars and now allowing a shot from mid-ice to go in…of his mask!

See a photo of the winning goal at ESPN.

Will we get a US v. Canada finals now? The NHL hopes so.
